Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word file format on the Template provided
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Submissions section, which is found in About the Journal.
  • The instructions for ensuring a blind review have been followed (see below): two versions of the article have been prepared on the template 1. with full details, 2. with author and affiliation removed.

Publishing Schedule

TRACEY | Journal now publishes two editions a year:

  1. an annual call will invite submissions against a specific research theme, typically for submission in September to be published in March
  2. we will accept the submission of speculative papers at any point in the year, with a final deadline of March, for an edition typically published in September. This will offer the opportunity for authors to disseminate their research on any theme.

Please be aware of these deadlines when submitting your work.

Detailed Instructions

For all submissions with or without illustrations, contributors must submit their contribution formatted ready for publication using the Microsoft Word template provided. When using the template the embedded styles must be used e.g. Heading 1,2,3, Quotation, Caption etc.

Any images should also be embedded in the document in the desired location.   Please also supply one image to be used as a header image for the website.

Two versions of the template must be submitted.

  1. A complete version with all relevant sections and headings
  2. A version of the above with no author or affiliation information, suitable for blind peer review

With Microsoft Office documents, author identification should also be removed from the properties for the file (see under File in Word):

(MS WINDOWS) Microsoft Word:

  1. Go to “file”
  2. Select “info”
  3. Click on “check for issues”
  4. Click on “inspect document”
  5. In the "Document Inspector" dialog box, select the check boxes to choose the types of hidden content that you want to be inspected.
  6. Click "Remove All"
  7. Click "Close"
  8. Save the document.

(MAC OS) MICROSOFT WORD:

For the latest version of Word:

  • Go to the Review tab
  • Click the Protect Document tool
  • Click Remove personal information from this file on save

Please name your files in the following manner:  surname_forename-call-date-full.docx and surname_forename-call-date-blind.docx  e.g. doe_jane-presence-2020-full.docx

Please note, submissions that do not adhere to these requirements will be returned unpublished.

The following general guidelines apply to all submissions:

Title: Titles for submissions are mandatory

Biographical Information: You must provide the names, affiliations and email addresses for all authors. 

Abstact: Abstracts of 100-200 words must be provided.

Keywords: Please provide 3-5 keywords when submitting your work.

Formatting: The embedded styles within the supplied template must be used for all formatting.  Please do not change font types, or size directly.

Footnotes, Endnotes, References and Bibliographies: Footnotes should be used sparingly and numbered consecutively through the article. References should conform to the Harvard style.  Footnotes should not be used for references. The Harvard reference style does vary and we are happy to accept any consistent format.  Endnotes and Bibliographies are not accepted.

Permissions: It is the responsibility of contributors to obtain the necessary permissions for reproducing work other than their own.

Images: It is in the author's interest to provide high quality figures. Figures must be included in the correct locations in submissions using the template provided.  All figures must be numbered in the order in which they appear in the paper (e.g. Figure 1, Figure 2). In multi-part figures, each part should be labelled (e.g. Figure 1(a), Figure 1(b)).  Figure captions should appear in the appropriate location in the template.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
