The Journal of Information Literacy publishes innovative and challenging research articles and project reports which push the boundaries of information literacy thinking in theory, practice and method, and which aim to develop deep and critical understandings of the role, contribution and impact of information literacies in everyday contexts, education and the workplace.

The Journal of Information Literacy (JIL) is the professional journal of the CILIP Information Literacy Group




The Journal of Information Literacy has teamed up with the LILAC committee to offer  LILAC presenters the opportunity to publish their work in a special December issue of the journal. JIL can share your work openly with the community and this year in particular we recognise that this is important. You can submit either peer reviewed articles or project reports, the details are below. If you are unsure about where your work falls then please reach out to Alison Hicks ( for an informal non-committal chat.

  • Peer reviewed articles

 Submission deadline: 15th August 2020

Final versions (based on Peer Review feedback) due: 19th October, 2020

Publication Date: Early December, 2020

  • Project reports

Submission deadline: 30th August, 2020

Final versions (based on Editors’  feedback) due 19th September, 2020

Publication Date: Early December, 2020

All papers must conform with JIL style guidelines:

If you would like to publish with JIL but cannot meet these deadlines, please feel free to submit your work at a later date where it will be given full consideration for inclusion in a future edition of the journal.
